ATE400 CT‑Powered Wireless Temperature Sensor — On‑Site Temperature Monitoring Solution for Switchgear Joints
20 Aug 2026

Project Background

Over‑heating at busbars, circuit‑breaker contacts and cable joints inside high & low‑voltage switchgears, caused by loose connections, aging components and heavy load current, may result in insulation breakdown, electrical fire and unexpected shutdown. Traditional infrared thermometer and temperature wax cannot realize 24/7 online monitoring, while wired temperature sensors bring high‑voltage insulation risks and complex cabling work.
The Acrel ATE400 CT‑powered passive wireless temperature sensor draws energy directly from primary current without battery maintenance. Cooperated with ARTM‑Pn or ATC600‑C transceiver units, the system supports local display and multi‑level alarm. It has been widely adopted by global switchgear OEMs for export projects.

ATE400 Core Features

  • CT‑powered passive design: Self‑powered when primary current ≥5A, max 5000A, service life ≥10 years, zero battery‑replacement maintenance.
  • Measurement range: ‑50℃ ~ +125℃, accuracy ±1℃, sampling & transmission every 15 seconds.
  • Sub‑G GFSK radio (433/470/868‑923 MHz optional). Up to 150 m in open area, works well inside metal switch cabinets.
  • Compact size, alloy‑strap mounting. Install on breaker contacts, busbar joints and cable terminals without power‑cut reconstruction. Suitable for 3‑35kV and 0.4kV switchgears.
  • Insulation for ≤35kV system, operating temperature: ‑40℃ ~ 85℃, high EMC performance for industrial & overseas sites.

Two Local‑Monitoring Solution Options (No cloud platform required)

Economic Solution (max.60 measuring points)

ATE400 sensors + ARTM‑P60‑400 integrated transceiver & display unit

ARTM‑P60‑400 integrates wireless receiving, local LCD display and relay alarm output. It supports high‑temperature pre‑alarm, sudden‑temperature‑rise alarm and three‑phase temperature‑difference alarm. Relay dry contacts can trigger external buzzer or beacon light. Ideal for small‑scale switchgear renovation projects.

Functional Solution (max.240 measuring points)

ATE400 + ATC600‑C wireless transceiver + ATP007 7‑inch touch screen + power supply module
ATC600‑C collects wireless data and uploads to ATP007 touch screen via RS485. Up to 240 temperature points are centrally displayed with two‑stage alarm thresholds (pre‑alarm & critical over‑temp alarm). Modbus‑RTU / TCP is available for SCADA connection. Suitable for new‑build substations with multiple switchgear cubicles and export EPC projects.

Typical Application

  • 1. HV/MV switchgear: breaker moving/fixed contacts, busbar joints, cable terminals
  • 2. LV switchgear & drawer cabinets: high‑current busbar and cable joints
  • 3. Export switchgear OEM projects for Europe, Southeast Asia and other regions
  • 4. Data centers, rail transit, industrial plants & commercial power stations for over‑heat & fire prevention

Solution Benefits

  1. Passive maintenance‑free design: eliminate battery‑replacement work, lower total‑of‑life cost.
  2. On‑site early‑warning without cloud dependence: real‑time local temperature readout and multi‑level alarm to avoid electrical fire hazards.
  3. Cabinet‑friendly installation: no major modification for both new‑built switchgear and retrofit projects.
  4. Proven overseas delivery experience: full English technical documentation available for global EPC & switchgear manufacturers。
