ABOUT THE PROJECT
A Competitive Bid That Grew Into a 300-Store Program

It started with a keyword search. Brio Energy, a French system integrator, was sourcing multi-circuit energy meters through competitive bidding when they found Acrel. The need: sub-meter the lighting, ventilation, fryers and ovens of every Burger King restaurant around Paris — for preventive maintenance and energy cost optimization.

Today that inquiry has become a 300+ store retrofit program. Phase 1 of 50 stores is complete, and Phase 2 is rolling out over three years — with cumulative orders already exceeding 575,000 RMB.

THE CHALLENGE
Why a Standard Meter Couldn't Do the Job
01 Whole-Store Meter Only Each restaurant only had an incoming meter — no way to see which equipment group was using what.
02 Compact Distribution Boxes Existing cabinets are small — the retrofit hardware had to fit into very limited space.
03 Long Circuit Distances Load circuits are 6–8 m apart — standard short CT cables simply cannot reach.
04 Extremely Small Loads Some circuits draw as little as 0.02 A — too small for standard current transformers.
Compact existing distribution cabinet in a Burger King store
The real constraint — a small existing cabinet that the metering solution had to fit inside.
THE SOLUTION
One ADW210 Meter, Every Circuit Covered
ADW210 multi-circuit energy meter with open-type CTs
ADW210 Multi-Circuit Energy Meter
Monitors multiple single-phase circuits in one DIN-rail device, with open-type CTs that clip onto existing cables — no panel rewiring required.
01 Multi-Circuit by Design One meter covers up to 4 circuits — 35 single-phase loads per store monitored with just a few devices.
02 mA-Level Current Sensing The D10 input with a 5 A CT measures tiny loads accurately — down to 0.02 A.
03 CTs Customized Up to 10 m CT cable lengths tailored per store — circuits 6–8 m apart are no longer a problem.
04 Pre-Built Metering Cabinet Acrel assembles the complete cabinet in-house — contents confirmed with the customer in advance, so installers just mount and connect.
05 Wireless Data Uplink RS485 to gateway, then LoRaWAN / 4G / WiFi straight to the customer's own platform.
